Installation

Build Station ships as a signed installer. Pick your platform below.

Requirements

• macOS: 12 Monterey or newer. Apple Silicon or Intel.
• Windows: 10 (1809+) or 11. 64-bit only.
• Claude Code CLI: Install separately and sign in. Build Station spawns claude from your PATH — it has to be discoverable.

Note: Why we need Claude installed separately

Build Station does not include Claude itself. It launches whatever claude is on your PATH and inherits that command's subscription or API key. Keeping the two installations separate means your model usage stays on your own account, and you upgrade them independently.

Download

• macOS (.dmg): Universal binary — Apple Silicon and Intel.

• Windows (.msi): 64-bit installer for Windows 10 and 11.

Install

macOS

1. Open the .dmg

Double-click the downloaded file. A Finder window opens with the app icon and an Applications shortcut.

2. Drag to Applications

Drag Meshly Build Station.app onto the Applications folder shortcut.

3. First launch

Open Applications, find Meshly Build Station, double-click. macOS will ask you to confirm because the app is from the internet — click Open.

4. Grant permissions

On first run macOS prompts for keychain access (so credentials can be stored securely) and notification permissions. Allow both. Without keychain access Build Station can't store your login token and you'll be asked to re-authenticate on every launch.

Windows

1. Run the .msi

Double-click the downloaded file. SmartScreen may warn — click More info then Run anyway.

2. Choose install scope

The installer defaults to a per-user install (no admin rights needed). Accept and click Install.

3. First launch

Launch from the Start menu. Windows Credential Manager is used to store keychain entries — no separate permission prompt.

Verify the install

After launch you should see:

• A tray icon (top-right menu bar on macOS, system tray on Windows). It cycles through three states: idle (grey), online (green), running (animated).
• The main window opens to the instance selector or the project list (if you've signed in before).
• Clicking the tray icon shows a menu with Open dashboard, Settings, Quit.

Auto-updates

Build Station checks for new versions on launch and once a day while running. When one is available you'll see a notification in the tray menu — click it to download and restart into the new version.

Warning: Updates require a restart

In-flight agent tasks finish on the old version; new spawns after restart use the new one.
